Posted - 31 mars 2006 : 22:22:44 ... After reading a post that said that TT5 could not be done on the PB GPS 400 because of the processor. I thought "what a load of rubbish!" and got one to prove the point. Well it arrived yesterday and today... Viola! TomTom 5 uploaded and working.
Please observe the pics:
General view, also notice the signal strength indicator working properly.
 Showing the WinCE taskbar...
 Satellite Lock no problem
Have trialled this all afternoon and it's running 100% The satellite lock is very quick usually about 40 seconds from switch on, but then that's what I would expect from the SirfStar 3 chipset. It runs with no lag, just as you would expect from TT5. Voices work (it's nice to have Ozzy Osbourne swearing at me again!) as does the battery meter and the satellite signal strength indicator. Infact everything works as it should.
I am just waiting for the OK from GpsPassion to post the tutorial as it does involve minor file modification and it will be in this thread.
Regards, Psi

Posted - 15 août 2012 : 13:55:06 Hi, I am very sorry to annoy you with a subject you have already tried to explain to people but... I have been trying to get tomtom onto my gps 400 for over a year now - yes a whole year - without any luck. So far I have tried the following:
1) woken up WinCe 2) used cab manager and done the cab files 3) tried to just copy them onto the SD card without any folders to put them in and nothing 4) Even tried to put destinator 7 onto the SD card and run it off wince but nothing happens.
I am very sorry to be emailing you this subject matter again but since I cannot speak French I have no idea what files I should be outting and where, and also how does one install tomtom? I assumed from the methods that you just out them onto the SD card and then it installs itself without having to do anything. I felt I had to contact you since you know about this subject and can maybe offer me some info that will help.
Thanks so much in advance

Posted - 23 févr. 2009 : 10:44:32 TomTom 5 is now unsupported. Did anyone ever manage to get TomTom 6 stable on the GPS 400? I've just been gifted one but I'd like to get it running software with up-to-date maps.

Posted - 01 nov. 2007 : 14:02:52 Do it work with the Compasseo 300 as well? (TomTom) Is it the same modell as 500 but with less maps?
Do these modells have a backup battery? Or do they lose information when you are out of power?
Thanks |

PsiDoc. TomTom5 is running fine, but I have a problem with POI's. When I'm going to use any option related to POI's, a Fatal Application Window error appears saying textually : "Application TomTom Navigator.exe has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If the problem persist, contact the program vendor. Program: TomTom Navigator.exe Exception: 0xC0000005 Address: FE45DF30".
The same versión of TomTom5 installed in a "normal" PocketPC is running fine without the POI error...
I suposse that it's a problem with the poi.dat file in my map. Is this the problem or it's a problem with the GPS400?
Thank you very much again Psi ;)

I'm getting the same error but on multiple maps so I don't think it's just the one file that is corrupt - has anyone discovered any other reasons for the fe45df30 error? |

I'm attempting an install on a PXA255 board and having the same problems. Any ideas?
Also, my board is XScale based, yet I have still have to modify the CABs for the install to proceed. Why is this? |

Posted - 10 juil. 2007 : 19:36:32 Hi, first of all I wanna say that im very impressed with your knowledge PsiDoc :) Im going to France but I have a Packard Bell Compasseo 500 (with Benelux card), so do you think i could install TomTom 5 on it? And if I mess it up or it doesnt work, will my compasseo still be ok then? If not, could I just use the reset button?
Many thanks in advance

Posted - 11 juin 2007 : 06:41:17 hi, firstly i would like to say thank you for your time and effort on this project, hopefully i can get it working for me :)
ok, so i have followed the tut to the letter, i have installed tom tom 6 for pda's on my compasseo 500. after installing tom tom to the device using the setup.exe there is only a tom tom navigator.cab file on the memory card. the program does not appear in the programs list in the start menu so there is no way of actually starting the program. does any kind person know what i have done wrong?
thanx in advance
